Football Player Press Conference Quotes

Senior Offensive lineman Garrett Reynolds
On preparing for a pressure-heavy Rutgers defense: "Definitely have to be more sound as a whole offensive unit. In the first game, we have a lot of times where four guys are doing their assignment and one guy was just a little off his fit creating some problems for the play. We have to improve and pay attention to detail. We must stay poised and keep our eyes open, not let the crowd noise get to us."
On Shaun Draughn's ability to run the football: "He is explosive; he works hard and is a fun guy to block for back there. You never know what is going to happen. He is going to push and make that extra effort crawling to get yards, as you saw in the McNeese State game. He is going to be a fun guy to watch."
On trying to make a statement Thursday: "Personally, when we got back in the locker room after the first game, a lot of guys felt it was not even like a win because we know we can play better. We were not happy about it. It is a goal of ours as an offensive line to establish the running game and get this team going. We were lucky to come away with a win last game because we did not play very well. Rutgers is a good disciplined football team, so we are going to have to be ready. It is a great opportunity for us on a Thursday night to show the world what we've got."
Senior Safety Trimane Goddard
On his feelings after the McNeese State win: "I was definitely disappointed in the way we played in the opener, McNeese State has a great team as they spread you out and make you play disciplined football. I feel like we have worked to get better for Thursday. I think it was good that we had a bye week early. We got a chance to make some corrections and we've had time to make those adjustments to make sure we are all on the right page."
On his opinion of Thursday night games and the type of teams playing: "I will watch some of those games up to halfway through the fourth quarter, and then it is late and time to go to sleep. Mostly teams who play on Thursday have established programs, are teams on the rise or have a lot of prestige behind them. It is primetime after no one really saw us play against McNeese. It helps us as a team because it is the first road game and it is out of conference against a good team with talented players. How our players respond during this game will help us for the rest of the season."
On the difference in a spread offense compared to Rutgers: "It is a lot different then seeing the spread, where you see so many formations, shifts and adjustments that need to be made. It is a little easier to not see the spread, but Rutgers has a veteran quarterback and we have to be ready."
