FC Dallas Tabs Shriver In SuperDraft

ST. LOUIS --- North Carolina forward Brian Shriver was chosen by FC Dallas in the second round of the 2009 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, held Thursday at the St. Louis Convention Center. Shriver, the 27th overall selection, is the 13th Tar Heel to be picked in the last seven drafts.
Shriver, who had a team-high 14 goals in 2008, led the Tar Heels to the NCAA College Cup final with a goal against No. 1 Wake Forest in the national semifinals. A native of Clearwater, Fla., Shriver earned College Cup All-Tournament Team honors thanks to a goal and two assists in the postseason.
Shriver will join fellow Tar Heel and former teammate Dax McCarty, a 2006 first-round pick by FC Dallas.
