Three Tar Heels Advance To Semis of ITA Regional

CHAPEL HILL - Three UNC players advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Regional for the first time ever, continuing the Tar Heels' run of excellent play in the tournament.
Senior Clay Donato is joined in the semifinals by freshmen Ryan Noble and Jose Hernandez. Donato and Noble will face each other Monday in an all-UNC matchup, while Hernandez will play South Carolina's Diego Cubas in the other semifinal.
This is the first time UNC has placed three players in the semifinals of the ITA Regional. The Tar Heels last had two players in the semis in 2004, when Trystan Meniane and Nick Monroe made the tournament's final four.
Donato or Noble will face the winner of the Hernandez-Cubas match in the singles draw final one hour after the completion of the semifinals matches. The winner of that match will advance to the national ITA tournament beginning on Nov. 5 at Yale.
The doubles final will be played at 11 a.m. Monday between Wake Forest's Iain Atkinson and Steve Forman and Duke's Reid Carleton and Henrique Cunha.
