GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina junior defender/forward Eddie Ababio and defender Ryan Adeleye have earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Ababio, who is an exercise/sport science major out of Tampa, Fla., started 23 of 24 games and finished second on the team with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. He proved his versatility by spending most of the season up front before switching to the back line to help fuel Carolina's postseason run to the national title game.
Adeleye, a psychology major from Maplewood, N.J., played in all 24 games and made 21 starts at center back for the Tar Heels. He helped lead the UNC defense to seven shutouts and a 1.18 goals against average on the season.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
