OCCOQUAN, Va. - The Tar Heel varsity eight opened the competition with a win and the North Carolina rowing team went on to claim four of five races against George Mason Sunday morning at the Occoquan Reservoir.
Sunday's racing wrapped up a successful weekend for the Tar Heels, who won six of eight races against Georgetown and George Washington Saturday on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C.
"It was a really good weekend for us," UNC coach Sarah Haney said. "We got to see some different schools and get some more race experience. We handled it well and raced well across the board, raced pretty consistently. It was great to get a lot of races under our belt and we feel good about the results."
