Carolina Women's Golf Team Eighth At UCF Challenge

The University of North Carolina women's golf team fired a three-over-par 291 in the second round of the UCF Challenge to move up to eighth place. The Tar Heels posted a 587 total going into Tuesday's final round.
Senior Sydney Crane led the Tar Heels in the second round firing a four-under 68. The Jamestown, N.C., native has a one-under 143 total and is tied for 17th place going into the final round. Freshman Catherine O'Donnell also fired under-par, carding a one-under 71. O'Donnell, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., stands at even par 144 and is tied for 22nd place. Freshman Allie White and junior Kate Thomas both carded four-over 76s in the second round. White, from Lancaster, Ohio, has a four-over 148 total and is tied for 43rd place while Thomas, from Murwillumbah, Australia, has a 152 total and is tied for 65th placed. Senior Lauren Hunt, from Little River, S.C., carded a 79 on Monday for a 157 total and is tied for 83rd place.
Arizona State leads the field of 18 teams with an eight-under 568 total after firing a four-under 284 in the second round. UCLA, the first-round leader, is just one stroke back in second place at seven-under 569 after posting a one-under 287. Oklahoma State is in third place at one-under 575 while Southern California is fourth at 577 and Auburn is fifth at 584.
Jessica Yadloczky of Florida held on to the individual lead after firing a two-under-par 70 for an eight-under 136 total. Nicole Smith of Tennessee also shot two-under 70 and is just two shots back with a 138 total. Southern California's Belen Mozo and Duke's Jennie Lee are tied for third place at five-under 139. Mozo fired a seven-under 65 on Monday while Lee shot four-under 68.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Tuesday at RedTail Golf Club which features a par 72, 6,356-yard layout. Live scoring is available throughout the tournament on Golfstat.com.
