Fleury, Moran Ink Pro Deals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina standouts Mark Fleury and Brian Moran each signed professional contacts earlier this month after being selected in the first seven rounds of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Fleury, who hit .309 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI as the Tar Heels' regular catcher this season, signed with the Cincinnati Reds after being selected in the fourth round. He will begin his career with the Reds' Billings Mustangs Rookie League squad.
Moran, a third-team All-America pick by Baseball America as a left-handed reliever, inked with the Seattle Mariners after being chosen in the seventh round. He went 7-1 with four saves and a 2.31 ERA over 36 appearances last season. Moran, who has been assigned to the Rookie League Pulaski Mariners struck out 90 and walked only eight.
Fleury and Moran were two of a school record-tying seven Tar Heels picked in this year's draft.
