HONOLULU (AP) - Jessica Breland scored 19 points, Italee Lucas added 15 and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt had 14 as No. 14 North Carolina routed Hawaii 91-57 on Sunday night in the final of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.
Breland, Chay Shegog and Laura Broomfield each had seven rebounds for the Tar Heels, who held a 48-31 advantage on the boards. North Carolina had 24 offensive rebounds and led Hawaii 28-6 in second-chance points.
North Carolina (7-0) has won its seven games by an average of 44.6 points and was in control throughout on Sunday.
The Tar Heels went on an 11-0 run over a 2:30 span of the first half to turn the game into a rout. Ruffin-Pratt had four points during the spurt, which put North Carolina ahead 42-20 with 5:18 left.
Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 14 of her 16 points in the first half for Hawaii (4-2).
For UNC, it was a third tournament title in six visits to Honolulu and a second straight. In 2006, MVP Erlana Larkins led the Tar Heels in a trio of one-sided wins over Sacramento State, Gonzaga and Arkansas to claim the Rainbow Wahine Classic.
Lucas was the MVP this time around after averaging better than 20 points per game over three days. Breland joined Lucas on the all-tournament team after posting 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest.
