With a final day of racing on Sunday at the Head of the Hooch Regatta, North Carolina wrapped up its fall competition schedule on a high note. After racing in eights and fours on Saturday, the Tar Heels fielded four pairs and one single.
"Sunday at the Head of the Hooch is always a fun and more relaxed day for the team," UNC coach Sarah Haney said. "We look at it as another opportunity for some of our athletes to get down the race course.
"We have not been in 2-'s often this fall and are very pleased with how they all performed. We also raced one of our coxswains in the Novice 1x event and we were proud of her for her third place finish. Overall it was a great weekend!"
In the pairs, Tar Heel boats took 12th in 19:30.2 (Blair Meiggs, Jasmine Dennis); 16th in 19:55.3 (Alex McClelland, Kelsey Grich); , 19th in 20:16.5 (Kristi Roblin, Lindsay Paterniti); and 30th in 21:40.6 (Brittany Walsh, Josephine Kooijman) in a field of 32.
UNC coxswain Emma Shaw raced in the novice singles and finished third of four boats in 22:36.7.
The Tar Heels now head into winter training with an eye on the spring season, which opens on March 19.
