NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 8, 2010) - Representatives of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl announced today the 2010 Bowl featuring the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Tennessee Volunteers has sold out. This marks the fourth sold-out game in the Bowl's 13-year history and the third sell out of the last five Bowl games.
The Bowl's first sell out was in 1998 when the University of Alabama and Virginia Tech played at Vanderbilt University. The 2006 matchup between the University of Kentucky and Clemson University and the 2007 University of Kentucky and Florida State University Bowl game were also sell outs. The 2010 game will mark the fifth consecutive Bowl matchup between the ACC and SEC in Nashville.
"There has been great energy and enthusiasm among both fan bases this year and it is exciting to know that the Tar Heels and Vols will play in front of a sold-out stadium," said Scott Ramsey, president and CEO, Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
Established in 1998, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has transformed the week between Christmas and New Year's Day into one of the city's busiest times of the year for tourism. Since its inception, the Bowl has produced $165 million in direct economic impact to Nashville.
Parking permits for LP Field parking lots are also sold out. For additional downtown parking options, visit MusicCityBowl.com and click on Fan Guide. Kickoff will be Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. CST at LP Field in Nashville. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
