Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- University of North Carolina students are invited to compete in a 40-yard dash to determine the "Fastest Tar Heel On Campus" during Carolina's nationally televised ESPN Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Six finalists (three male, three female) will race against some of the fastest Carolina varsity student-athletes at halftime of the Spring Game. Linebacker Zach Brown, who earlier this semester set the school record in the indoor 60-meter dash, is tentatively scheduled to represent the football team.
Preliminaries of the Fastest Tar Heel on Campus contest will be held April 7 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Hooker Intramural Fields adjacent to Carmichael Arena. Registration for the event, which is hosted by UNC Campus Recreation and the UNC Athletic Department, will be conducted online at http://campusrec.unc.edu/special_events from March 22 through April 6. Prizes will be awarded to the six finalists.
All participants must be current full-time students (undergraduate or graduate) at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. In addition, participants must not be listed on a 2009-10 roster for any varsity sport at UNC.
In addition to the 40-yard dash, the athletic department will give away four 58-inch HDTVs to the fraternity, sorority, residence hall and student group (1 HDTV to each group) with the highest attendance at the Spring Game.
