WEYMOUTH, Mass. - The 18th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels maintained a perfect ACC record by defeating Boston College 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
UNC has now won eight matches in a row, and is 13-2 headed into Tuesday's match with No. 26 Wake Forest.
"I'm really proud of the way the guys competed this weekend," said head coach Sam Paul. "This was a tough road trip."
Fifty-fourth ranked Clay Donato and Stefan Hardy scored an 8-5 upset against No. 27 Thomas Nolan and Erik Kreutzer in doubles play. The Tar Heels also won the second and third flights to complete a sweep of doubles.
In singles, Stefan Hardy and Cameron Ahari set the pace with straight-set victories. Hardy defeated BC's Jonathan Schroeder without dropping a game at the No. 3 slot, while Ahari beat the Eagles' Adam Davison 6-1, 6-1 at the sixth spot.
"Now that we're done for the weekend, we're looking forward to playing a really tough Wake Forest team at home on Tuesday," said Paul.
The March 30 match against the Demon Deacons starts at 3:00 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
