UNC WR Greg Little
On getting to play in a scrimmage vs. spring practice:
"It was a fun time to divide the team in half and go at it, instead of just going first-string against second-string."
On the fan turnout:
"Guys were really excited to play. And to come out and see our fans behind us, we had such a good turnout. It was just tremendous to see something like this come true."
On White Team QB Bryn Renner's performance:
"He came to play today and stepped up and really made some plays. It shocked me. It is one thing to do it in practice because [the plays/formations] are scripted, but to come out here when the pressure is on and people are here watching. So to make the plays [he did] is tremendous."
UNC DT Marvin Austin:
On the best part of spring practice:
"Watching guys grow, watching guys come into their talent. Like Zach Brown, seeing him go out there, make the right reads and do his job, was very fulfilling. "
On the improvement of the team over the spring:
"I think guys have now really got it. We know that the only way we're going to be the team we want to be is through depth. We are only going to be as good as the [third-string] defensive tackle. Because everybody is going to have to play."
On how good the defense will be in '10-'11:
"I think we have a chance to do some very good things. Our goal is to be the best defense each and every Saturday. We want to be the best each and every week."
UNC CB Kendrick Burney:
On the crowd/support for the spring game:
"I remember there were times when we had only 1,000 or 2,000 fans here for our [spring scrimmage]. So to have 20 to 30,000 show up today was phenomenal. As a player, for these next five months, it makes you want to work that much harder. Fans don't realize how much impact they have on players."
UNC QB (Blue Team) T.J. Yates:
On how he felt about the way he threw the ball:
"It was pretty good. We ran a very base defense and offense, so I wasn't expecting to many big plays. I just made a lot of check-downs, to find my guys, and try to move the ball."
On what he took from the game:
"We did a good job running the ball on first and second down. We got ourselves in some bad situations in third and long. There are some things we could work on like just being more efficient on offense."
On White Team QB Bryn Renner:
"He did a very good job. That's one of the best performances I've seen from him. He did a god job handling everything. When the defense came at him, he did a good job of getting rid of the ball. "
