CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina freshman Bryn Renner has decided to no longer play baseball this spring so that he may concentrate fully on football. Renner, a native of West Springfield, Va., is a quarterback, but redshirted in football in 2009.
"I would like to thank the baseball staff for the opportunity, but I have to chosen to focus on football and my academics," said Renner. "I wish my teammates the best for the remainder of the season."
Renner played in 15 games as a first baseman and designated hitter. He alternated between both sports when the football team was going through spring practice.
