2010 Spring Game Format & Fan Information

North Carolina's Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 10 will kick off at 3:02 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
Earlier this week, the Carolina coaching staff divided the teams into Blue and White squads. The Blue (home) team will be quarterbacked by senior T.J. Yates and the White (visiting) team will be quarterbacked by redshirt freshman Bryn Renner. Sophomore signal caller Braden Hanson will play for both teams. Renner's team will receive the ball first.
Of Carolina's nine returning starters on defense, five are on the Blue team, including DE Robert Quinn, LB Quan Sturdivant, LB Kevin Reddick, CB Charles Brown and S Deunta Williams. Four returning defensive starters are on the White team, including DT Marvin Austin, LB Bruce Carter, S Da'Norris Seacry and CB Kendric Burney.
Of Carolina's 10 returning starters on offense, six are on the Blue team, including C Jonathan Cooper, TE Zack Pianalto, QB T.J. Yates, FB Devon Ramsay, TB Shaun Draughn and WR Erik Highsmith. Three returning offensive starters are on the White team, including C Cam Holland, OT Mike Ingersoll and WR Greg Little. OG Alan Pelc, who started all 13 games last year, is out for the spring with a shoulder injury.
The game will consist of four 12-minute quarters. The first two quarters will be conducted with normal football clock stoppages. The third and fourth quarters may have a running clock depending on timing with ESPN. The game will conclude at 5 p.m. Carolina also plans to conduct two two-minute drills in the fourth quarter.
Quarterbacks will not be sacked or hit. They will wear regular jerseys matching the color of their respective team.
Most punts will be fair caught.
Halftime will be 12 minutes in length and will include Carolina's Fastest Tar Heel on Campus contest. The football team will enter the locker room for approximately five minutes and then come back on the field to watch the contest. Three players will participate in contest. They are expected to be Johnny White, Hunter Furr and Jheranie Boyd.
Carolina will have a team meeting, followed by a dinner at the Kenan Football Center on Monday. The losing team in Saturday's Spring Game will serve the winning team dinner on the fifth floor of the facility.
Fans will be seated on the North side of the stadium around to the tunnel in the middle of the West end zone. Fans should enter from Gates 2, 3 and 5. Gate 6 on the South side will be restricted to media only.
Several first-come, first-served parking lots are available across campus free of charge, including: Park Place, Nash, McCauley Deck, Craige Deck, Cardinal Deck, Jackson Deck ACC Lot, T-Lot, Emerson Drive, Lenoir Drive; and Swain Lot. The Morehead Lot is free until 3 p.m. All of those lots open at 8 a.m.
Free shuttles will operate from the Williamson Lot (disability parking), Bowles Lot (public parking) and Manning Lot (public parking) from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Pay ($10) parking will be available at the Highway 54 Visitor Lot and Rams Head Deck (limited).
