Softball Earns NCAA Bid To Seattle Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- The North Carolina softball team (40-18) was selected to the NCAA Women's College World Series' Seattle Regional by the NCAA Selection Committee on Sunday night. The Tar Heels will be the second seed in the regional and will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers (29-27) on Friday at 5:30 EDT.
Carolina earned its eighth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament with this year's berth and gathered 40 wins in a season for the fifth straight year this season.
The defending NCAA National Champion, Washington Huskies (45-6), will host the regional and face North Dakota State (33-23) in the second game on Friday. The Huskies earned the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and finished the season as Pac-10 Champions. North Dakota State earned a birth to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Summit League Tournament Title this weekend.
The regional is from May 21-23 and games will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
The winner from the Seattle, Wash. Regional will face the winner of the College Park, Mary. Regional, which features No. 14 Oklahoma, Syracuse, Maryland and Fordham. The higher seed will host the Super Regional
