#19 Donato and Hardy Advance In NCAA Doubles, Donato Falls In Singles

ATHENS, GA. - The only Tar Heel doubles duo to reach the NCAA Division I Men's Championships have progressed into the second round. Nineteenth-ranked Clay Donato and Stefan Hardy were victorious over #28 Denes Lukacs and Roberto Maytin of Baylor, 6-3, 6-4.
Donato and Hardy will face either Emanu Brighiu and Christopher Price of TCU or Robert Farah and Steve Johnson from team national champions Southern California in the second round Friday from the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
Donato, a senior, saw his singles career end Thursday morning in the second round of singles at Athens, Ga. A Toronto native, Donato won his first round match Wednesday but he fell to 10th-ranked Dimitar Kutrovsky 6-4, 6-4 in the second round Thursday.
Donato was the nation's 43rd-ranked singles player heading into the tournament. The singles match was the final of this outstanding three-year career at UNC after his transfer from Texas A&M. Donato was a two-time All-ACC selection.
