Hijikata, Kiger & Seggerman Set To Play At Wimbledon
June 26, 2026 | Men's Tennis
Former North Carolina men's tennis stars Rinky Hijikata, Mac Kiger and Ryan Seggerman will take the court in the sport's most prestigious tournament beginning this week at Wimbledon in London, England.
All three are set to play in the main draw of the Gentlemen's Doubles bracket starting on Wednesday July 1. Hijikata will begin singles play on Monday June 29.
Both Hijikata and Kiger were members of the 2021 Tar Heel team that won the ITA Indoor National Championships, and both have enjoyed stellar professional success after leaving Carolina for the pro ranks.
Kiger & fellow American Patrik Trhac will play France's Quentin Halys and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the first round. The winner could meet the top-seeded duo of Finland's Harri Heliovaara and Great Britain's Henry Patten in the second round.
Hijikata and fellow Australian Marc Polmans will meet Germany's 16th-seeded team of Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner in the first round. Hijikata reached the Wimbledon doubles final in 2025 while teaming with Daavid Pel and won the 2023 Australian Open doubles title with Jason Kubler. He will play Jesper de Jong (No. 74 in the ATP rankings) on Monday in the singles first round.
Hijikata has risen to his highest ATP ranking in almost a year after reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament at Queen's Club last week. He jumped 21 spots to world No. 83. Kiger has been ranked as high as No. 76 earlier this year.
Seggerman and Sweden's Jakub Paul will meet Britain's Luke Johnson and Poland's Jan Zielinski on Wednesday in the first round.
