Carolina Golfer To Play In 2010 World University Golf Championship

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfer Catherine O'Donnell will be participating in the 13th 2010 World University Golf Championship. O'Donnell, a rising junior from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., will be one of six participants on Women's Team USA. The championship will be played June 7-11 at Antequera Golf Course, a par 72, 6,562-yard layout, in Antequera, Malaga, Spain.
The World University Golf Championship, sponsored by the International University Sports Federation, is held every two years. The 2008 event was held in South Africa as Team USA won the women's gold medal in the 13-country field while the Team USA men finished fifth out of 14 countries.
This year's Women's Team USA consists of: Laura Anderson, University of Louisville; Ashley Bauer, University of Michigan; Stefanie Kenoyer, Furman University; Laura Kueny, Michigan State University; Catherine O'Donnell, University of North Carolina; and a player to be determined. Coach Diana Thomason of the University of Iowa will lead the squad.
