Carolina Golfers Named To All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three University of North Carolina women's golfers, Courtney Gunter, Sarah Thead and Kate Thomas were named to the 2010 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Golf Team as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Thomas, a senior management and society and history major from Murwillumbah, Australia, was selected to the All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team for the second consecutive year. Gunter and Thead are first-time honorees. Gunter is a freshman psychology major from Matthews, N.C., while Thead is a junior transfer history major from Poway, Calif. Duke led the league with four players named to the squad. Carolina, Florida State, Virginia and Wake Forest each had three players selected. Boston College, Maryland and NC State had two honorees while Miami had one player chosen to the squad. Alison Whitaker, a senior psychology major from Duke, was selected the ACC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Joining Gunter, Thead and Thomas on the 23-player squad are Kelsey Rockey and Eunice Yim from Boston College; Lindy Duncan, Courtney Ellenbogen, Stacey Kim and Alison Whitaker from Duke; Lacey Agnew, Macarena Silva and Hannah Thomson from Florida State; Christine Shimel and Carly Hunt from Maryland; Maria Ronderos from Miami; Brooke Baker and Julie Saleeby from NC State; Nicole Agnello, Lauren Greenlief and Whitney Neuhauser from Virginia; and Alexandra Bodemann, Stephanie Kim and Michelle Shin from Wake Forest.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
