Bernard Added To Maxwell Club Watch List

University of North Carolina redshirt freshman tailback Giovani Bernard has been added to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top offensive player. Bernard is the nation's top freshman runner, averaging 109.5 yards per game, and has scored eight rushing touchdowns.
The original list was comprised of 65 players, who were selected based on their performances during the 2010 season. As the 2011 season has progressed, the Club believes that several additional players warrant attention because of their noteworthy play.
Nine new names have been added to the Maxwell Watch List.
The Maxwell Award additions include:
Giovani Bernard- North Carolina, RB, Freshman
Tajh Boyd- Clemson, QB, Sophomore
Isaiah Crowell- Georgia, RB, Freshman
Seth Doege- Texas Tech, QB, Junior
Lamar Miller- Miami (Fla), RB, Sophomore
rock Osweiler- Arizona State, QB, Junior
ernard Pierce- Temple, RB, Junior
Keith Price- Washington, QB, Sophomore
Tevin Washington- Georgia Tech, QB, Junior
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on October 31st and three finalists for each award will be announced November 21st. The winners of the 2011 Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show which will be held on December 8th. The formal presentation of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Harrah's Entertainment Atlantic City on March 2, 2012.
