Three Tar Heels in Action in ITA Pre-Qualifying

TULSA, OK--After a strong start to the season in tournaments hosted by ACC rivals Duke and Virginia, the Tar Heels now head west to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the ITA All-American Championships. Pre-qualifying concluded this weekend, and three Tar Heels saw prominent hard court action.
Freshman Oystein Steiro downed Oklahoma's John Warden and Oklahoma State's Christopher Haworth (6-3, 6-4) before falling to Florida's Andrew Butz (6-1, 6-1). Junior William Parker also advanced to the 3rd round courtesy of a 1st round bye and a 2nd round victory over New Mexico's Conor Berg (7-6, 6-1). Parker too then lost to a Floridian, dropping 6-2, 6-1 to the University of Florida's Andrew Newman. Senior Cameron Ahari rounded out the Carolina contingent, dropping a contested match 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 to William & Mary's Ben Hoogland. The Tar Heels will be back in action Monday through Wednesday in qualifying action before the Main Draw begins Thursday.Players Mentioned
