Hernandez Advances to Final 16 at All-American Championships

Tulsa, Ok. -Jose Hernandez advanced to the round of 16 at the All-American Championships, the first leg of the collegiate tennis grand slam.
Hernandez faced tough competition no day one. Despite garnering the tournament's #8 seed, Hernandez drew the nation's 10th ranked player, Pepperdine's Sebastian Fanselow in the first round. The Tar Heel junior beat the Waves' senior All-American 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.
In the late afternoon, Hernandez faced blustery conditions with winds sustained at 15-20 mph throughout the match. Hernandez fought off a set point at 7-8 in the first set tiebreak, and won four of the next five points to take the first set 7-6 (11-9). Hernandez then wore down Nebraska's Benedikt Lindheim 6-2 in the second set.
Hernandez advances to the Round of 16 on Friday against Illinois' Roy Kalmanovich at 10:30 am. Live scoring/video is available for the tournament at:
