Hernandez Falls In Round of 16 At All-America Championships

TULSA, OKLA. - After scoring a pair of singles wins on Thursday, UNC junior All-America Jose Hernandez of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic saw his run through the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Championships end on Friday at the University of Tulsa.
Hernandez fell in the Round of 16 singles as 71st-ranked Roy Kalmanovich of Illinois won a tough three-set match against the ninth-ranked Hernandez by a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 count.
Hernandez did combine with Carolina senior Brennan Boyajian to win a pair of consolation doubles matches, advancing the pair to the consolation semifinals on Saturday.
The Tar Heel duo defeated Carlos Cueto and Ben McLachlan of California 8-6 in the consolation first round. The sixth-ranked Boyajian and Hernandez then defeated 11th-ranked Sebastian Fanselow and Jenson Turner of Pepperdine in the second round 8-5.
