UNC Women's Golf Team Inks Top Recruit

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina women's golf coach Jan Mann announced the signing of Samantha Marks of Maitland, Fla., who will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2012. Marks is currently ranked 13th in the class of 2012 in the Polo Junior Golf Rankings and ranked 44th overall in the same rankings.
"Samantha has been an exceptional golfer and student throughout her high school career," says Tar Heel head coach Jan Mann. "We are very excited that she has chosen to join our Carolina family. Samantha will bring a great deal of talent and depth to the program. Her enthusiasm and drive to become a successful golfer will no doubt assist our team in our efforts to win a national championship."
Marks has five top-10 finishes and 10 top-25 finishes in 2011. She won the AJGA Deutsche Bank of Partners for Charity Junior Shoot Out. Marks' other top finishes in 2011 were a tie for runner-up honors at the East Coast Golfweek Invitational, a third-place finish at the AJGA Woodward Video Junior at The Greenbrier, a tie for fourth at the AJGA Under Armour/Vicky Hurst Championship and a tie for seventh at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational.
Marks' top finishes in 2010 were a runner-up finish at the AJGA Woodward Video Junior at The Greenbrier, a fourth-place finishg at the AJGA Houston Junior and a seventh-place finish at the AJGA Deutsche Bank Partners for Charity Junior Shoot Out.
