After a perfect 4-0 weekend on the West Coast the Tar Heels were honored for their work on the field by several different organizations. Levi Michael opened the season in impressive fashion going 9-for-18 at the plate while swiping four bases when he got on. The Tar Heels will host Seton Hall in the home-opening series this weekend.
Michael was named to the College Baseball 360 Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll for his performance in California. The junior shortstop opened the year with back-to-back 3-for-5 performances against Cal Poly and No. 8 Cal State Fullerton. The Welcome, N.C., native crossed the plate four times and drove in three, while stealing a base in every game.
College Baseball Insider named North Carolina its Southeast Region Team of the Week for its 4-0 showing.
The Tar Heels also moved up in nearly every poll:
Baseball America: No. 24 - Moved into the poll
Collegiate Baseball: No. 18 - Moved up from No. 27
NCBWA: No. 21 - Moved up from No. 29
Perfect Game: No. 22 - Was ranked No. 22 last week
