Carolina Golfers Finish 14th At Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

The North Carolina women's golf team fired a 302 in the final round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate to finish in 14th place with a 903 total. Junior Catherine O'Donnell was low for the Tar Heels, tying for 29th place with a 5-over-par 221 total.
O'Donnell, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., fired a 3-over 75 in Tuesday's final round after carding 75-71 in the first two rounds. Allie White, a junior from Lancaster, Ohio, carded a 225 total after a 4-over 76 on Tuesday to tie for 42nd place. Freshmen Jackie Chang and Casey Grice both fired a 1-over 73 in the final round. Chang, from Paradise Valley, Ariz., tallied a 226 total to tie for 46th while Grice, who is from College Station, Texas and playing as an individual, tied for 53rd place with a 228 total. Freshman Katherine Perry and sophomore Courtney Gunter both carded a 78 in the final round. Perry, from Cary, N.C., finished with a 232 total to tie for 71st while Gunter, from Matthews, N.C., tied for 80th place with a 234 total.
Southern California fired 6-under 282 in the final round, the low team round of the tournament. The Trojans tallied a 4-over 868 total to top the field of 17 teams. Alabama was the runner-up four strokes back at 872 after carding a 2-over 290 on Tuesday. Duke and Tulane tied for third place with 879 totals while Purdue and Virginia tied for fifth at 880.
Stephanie Meadow of Alabama captured the individual title with a one-stroke victory over LSU's Megan McChrystal. Both players carded a 1-over 73 in the final round. Meadow finished with a 5-under 211 total while McChrystal finished at 4-under 212. Two Duke players, Laetitia Beck and Lindy Duncan, tied for third place at 3-under 313. Duncan fired a 4-under 68 on Tuesday while Beck shot 1-under 71. Giulia Molinaro of Arizona State and Maribel Lopez Porras of Tulane tied for fifth place at 2-under 214 while there was a four-way tied for seventh place at 1-under 215 - Purdue's Laura Gonzalez, Texas A&M's Katerina Ruzickova and Southern California's Lisa McCloskey and Sophia Popov.
The 54-hole event was played at English Turn Golf and Country Club, a par 72, 6,105-yard layout. The Tar Heels return to action March 11-13 at the LSU Golf Classic in Baton Rouge.
