Carolina Golfers Finish 13th At The LSU Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. -
The North Carolina women's golf team finished 13th at the LSU Golf Classic. The Tar Heels finished at 64-over-par 928 and were led by freshman Jackie Chang.
Chang, from Paradise Valley, Ariz., carded a one-over 73 in the final round. Chang tied for 71st at 22-over 238. Junior Allie White, of Lancaster, Ohio, was the day's second low Tar Heel. White posted a three-over 75 bringing her tied for 65th at a 21-over 237. Junior Catherine O'Donnell, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., carded a four-over 76 in the final round for a 12-over 228 total. She finished the event tied for 31st place. Freshman Casey Grice, from College Station, Tex., was tied for 61st after her six-over 78 and 20-over 236 total. Freshman Katherine Perry, from Cary, N.C., carded an eight-over 80 and tied for 52nd at 18-over 234.
Arkansas maintained its lead and topped the 21-team field at 24-over 88. In second was Virginia at 31-over 895. Alabama, Tennessee and Duke tied for third with 36-over 900 totals. Host LSU finished in sixth at 38-over 902, Wake Forest in seventh at 45-over 909, Texas A&M in eighth at 46-over 910 and North Carolina State in ninth at 47-over 911. Completing the top 10 was Louisville with a 50-over 914 total.
Winning the individual honors and tied at two-over 218 were Lindy Duncan of Duke and AnnaKarin Ljungstrom of Louisville. Arkansas' Emily Tubert finished third at three-over 219 and Alabama's Stephanie Meadow was fourth at four-over 220. Tied for fifth at five-over 221 were Megan McChrystal of LSU and Maribel Lopez Porras of Tulane. There was a four-way tie for seventh between Tennessee's Erica Popson, Arkansas' Kelli Shean, Wake Forest's Natalie Sheary and Arkansas' Victoria Vela. They finished the event at six-over 222.
The 54-hole event was played at the University Club, a par 72, 6194-yard layout. The Tar Heels return to action March 25-27 for the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C.
