Tar Heels Qualify for NCAA Regionals

The University of North Carolina gymnastics team qualified as the sixth seed in the Norman region at the 2011 National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Regional, announced today by the NCAA. The Tar Heels' regional is hosted by the University of Oklahoma on April 2, at 4 p.m.
Carolina performed their best meet the season to get to Regionals, scoring a 195.300 to win their fifth EAGL Championship. The team hopes that this momentum will carry them through to the finals.
The top two teams and all-around competitors as well as individual event winners from each regional receive a bid to the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships take place April 15-17 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The regional is composed of No. 1 seed Oklahoma, No. 2 Utah, No. 3 Washington, No. 4 New Hampshire, No. 5 Missouri as well as the No. 6 seed North Carolina Tar Heels. Individual qualifiers will also be competing against the selections.
Carolina will begin the Norman Regional on vault, followed by a bye round, bars, beam, and another bye before finishing on the floor.
