CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfer Allie White was named to the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Golf Team as announced by ACC Commissioner John Swofford.
White, a rising senior English major from Lancaster, Ohio, was earlier selected to the All-ACC squad. She was the runner-up at this year's ACC Championship as she led the Tar Heels to the team title. White played in all seven of Carolina's spring events. She tied for fifth place at the Bryan National Collegiate and tied for 18th at the NCAA East Regional. White concluded the spring with a 75.23 scoring average. She scored three even-par rounds and two under-par rounds. Her low round of 5-under 66 came in the first round of the ACC Championship.
This marked White's second year selected to the All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team. She was also named to the 2009 squad. Also in 2009, White was selected to the All-ACC squad, named Golfweek All-America Honorable Mention and chosen a National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-America Scholar.
After playing for Carolina in 2008-09, White transferred to Ohio State for one semester before returning to Chapel Hill for the spring 2010 semester. Thus, White could not compete during the spring 2010 and fall 2011 semesters.
Joining White on the 23-player squad are Kelsey Rockey and Eunice Yim of Boston College; Laetitia Beck, Alejandra Cangrejo, Kim Donovan, Lindy Duncan and Stacey Kim of Duke; Maria Salinas, Macarena Silva and Hannah Thomson of Florida State; Hayley Brown, Hilary Lawson and Christine Shimel of Maryland; Maria Ronderos of Miami; Amanda Baker, Brooke Baker and Brittany Marchand of NC State; Nicole Agnello and Portland Rosen of Virginia and Alexandra Bodemann, Olafia Kristinsdottir and Natalie Sheary of Wake Forest.
To be eligible for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
