Renner Earns Recognition from Davey O'Brien Award

Chapel Hill, N.C. - North Carolina sophomore quarterback Bryn Renner earned honorable-mention honors from the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Award for his performance in Carolina's 42-10 win over James Madison. Renner was 22 of 23 for 277 yards and two touchdowns and set the ACC single-game record for completion percentage (.957).

During the first eight weeks of the season, a subset of The O'Brien National Selection Committee will name a Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Week. All 120 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) quarterbacks are candidates for the award until Semifinalists are announced Oct. 24. Finalists will be announced Nov. 21 and the 2011 O'Brien Winner will be announced Dec. 8.
