Host Of Tar Heels Earn All-American Championships Invites

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Eight University of North Carolina men's tennis players, headed by Jose Hernandez and Brennan Boyajian, have been invited to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's All-American Championships to be held in Tulsa, Okla. beginning on Saturday, October 1.
Boyajian and Hernandez have both merited invitations to the main singles draw which will begin on Thursday, Oct. 6. The two veteran Tar Heels have also earned a spot in the main doubles draw of the tournament which will be hosted by the University of Tulsa for the fifth straight year.
Hernandez will go into the tournament as the No. 9 singles seed after earning first-team All-America honors in singles last year.
Prequalifying matches for the tournament begin on Saturday, October 1, which the qualifying phase to follow before the main draw commences on October 6.
Senior Joey Burkhardt has earned a spot in the qualifying phase of singles. He will be joined by freshman Esben Hess-Olesen in the qualifying doubles. Senior Alex Rafiee and freshman Oystein Steiro are alternates for the qualiying doubles tournament.
Prequalifying is held in singles only and five Tar Heels have earned spots for that tournament which kicks off October 1. They are junior William Parker, senior Cameron Ahari, senior Alex Rafiee and freshmen Oystein Steiro and Esben Hess-Olesen.
