UNC Claims Share Of ACC Crown In 4-0 Win

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina blanked Boston College 4-0 Thursday night to close out the regular season and improve to 14-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play.
Carolina controlled possession much of the first half, with Andy Craven putting the Tar Heels on the board in the 20th minute with a shot off the far post on an assist by Mikey Lopez.
Carolina took a 1-0 lead into the half, outshooting Boston College 6-1 in the first period.
Eight minutes into the second half, Danny Garcia added a second strike for the Tar Heels, lifting the ball over the Boston College keeper off a free kick 20 yards out.
Alex Olofson registered his first career goal later in the second half, just 15 seconds after re-entering the game. The Tar Heel freshman deposited the ball into the back of the net from 12 yards out on a slotted pass by Craven to make it 3-0 Carolina.
The Tar Heels added their fourth an final goal in the 82nd minute. Olofson played a corner kick to Craven in front of the net. Craven rebounded the ball to Raby George, who also notched his first goal of the season with a clean shot eight yards out.
The Tar Heels outshot the Eagles 17-6 in their fourth straight win over Boston College, with Scott Goodwin recording his 37th career shutout and 13th of the season. Boston College dropped to 8-5-4 and 3-2-3 in the ACC.
North Carolina has secured the No. 2 seed in next week's ACC Tournament and will face the No. 7 seed in the quarterfinal on Tuesday in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels will face one of three possible opponents as the 5-7 seeds remain up in the air.
