Heels Scrimmage On Friday

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The North Carolina Tar Heels went nine full innings for the first time this Fall with the visting Navy squad rallying in the top of the ninth to take a 7-4 win.
Navy scored the first run of the game on a Colin Moran (18) sacrifice fly to left in the fifth. Navy scored two more in the eighth on a Grayson Atwood sacrifice fly followed by an infield error.
Blue came back to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth. A three-run Matt Roberts home run tied the game at 3-3, then Matt Rubino's triple to left gave Blue a 4-3 lead.
Navy came back with four runs in the top of the ninth. An error led to the first run, then a Grayson Atwood single gave Navy a 5-4 lead. A sixth run scored on a ground out to second, then Michael Russell's triple drove in the final run of the inning.
The Tar Heels used eighth pitchers: Hobbs Johnson, Chris McCue, Chris Munnelly, Shane Taylor, Henry Sisson, Jack Gerraghty, Matt Lowry and Mason McCullough.
Carolina will next scrimmage on Sunday afternoon.
