O'Donnell Tied For 7th At LPGA Qualifying

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - University of North Carolina golfer Catherine O'Donnell is tied for seventh place going into the final round of LPGA Qualifying School Tournament - State I. O'Donnell fired a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday for a 5-under 211 total at LPGA International Champions Course, a par 72, 6,389-yard layout.
O'Donnell, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is a four-time selection to the All-ACC team (2009-2012), Carolina's first four-time honoree. The 2009 ACC Freshman of the Year, O'Donnell won three tournaments during her collegiate career including the 2012 NCAA West Regional. She was named to the 2012 NGCA (National Golf Coaches Association) All-West Region Team after being selected to the 2011 NGCA All-East Region Team and a 2011 NGCA All-America Honorable Mention. She was named 2011 Ping Golfweek All-America Third Team after being an Honorable Mention in 2009 and 2012.
Moriya Jutanugarn leads the Qualifying Tournament with a 13-under 203 total after firing a 4-under 68 on Thursday. Garrett Phillips is one stroke back in second place at 12-under 204 while Jaye Marie Green is in third place at 11-under 205, Brooke Pancake is in fourth place at 9-under 207 and Kim Welch and Marina Stuetz are tied for fifth place at 7-under with a 7-under 209 total.
The top 60 players, including ties, after Friday's final round advance on to the second stage of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament to be played Oct. 9-12 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla. The top 70, including ties, from Stage II will advance on to the final Qualifying Tournament, Stage III, to be played over 90 holes Nov. 28-Dec. 2, on both the Champions and Legends courses at LPGA International in Daytona Beach. Top finishers in the final stage will earn 2013 LPGA membership (total number of cards to be determined at a later date) and all others who make the cut will receive Symetra Tour status.
