• Carolina is now 10-19-6 all-time against Virginia Tech and 2-4 against the Hokies in Blacksburg.
• After allowing 277 yards on 35 plays in the first half, the Carolina defense allowed just 64 yards on 27 plays after the break. The Hokies gained just 13 yards on nine plays in the third quarter.
• QB Marquise Williams made his first career start and completed 23 of 35 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Williams also rushed 18 times for 56 yards.
• TE Eric Ebron finished with six catches for 70 yards and his second touchdown of the season. His scoring grab was a spectacular catch in traffic in the second quarter.
• WR Quinshad Davis caught six passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. Davis leads the team in touchdown receptions with four.
• TB T.J. Logan made his Carolina debut and rushed five times for 25 yards. He also caught one pass for eight yards and returned a kickoff 21 yards on his first career touch.
• LB Jeff Schoettmer had a career-high 13 tackles (5 solo) and combined with Tim Jackson on a sack.
• OT James Hurst made his 41st career start on Saturday, most among Tar Heel players. DE Kareem Martin (33 starts) and S Tre Boston (32) are second and third on the team in career starts.
• PK Thomas Moore kicked two extra points and is now 63 for 63 in his career. Including 126 consecutive made PATs by Casey Barth, Carolina has made 189 consecutive extra points. Moore also made a 36-yard field goal in the third quarter and is a perfect 5-of-5 on the year.
