Tar Heel Spotlight: Kati Causey
March 11, 2013 | Softball
GoHeels.com is highlighting each Carolina softball player throughout the 2013 season. Today's Tar Heel spotlight is with sophomore Kati Causey, a catcher from Grifton, N.C.
GoHeels.com: What is your best memory of your softball career so far?
Kati Causey: My best softball memory would be one from my senior year. I was playing in a tournament in Virginia with my team the Stingers. We were determined to have a great tournament since it was one of the last with the seniors. On the first day, my team beat teams that we weren't supposed to beat, and we broke records doing it. I hit a high of four homeruns that day, and my team hit 9 all together, which is the most ever hit in one day there.
GH: How did you get started playing softball?
KC: Ever since I can remember, I have been at the ballpark. I was the little sister at every single Little League baseball game that my brother had. When I reached the age I could follow in his footsteps that is what I did. At the age of 6 started playing softball at Sara Law.
GH: Why Carolina?
KC Because it is close to home, it is strong in academics, athletics, and family atmosphere around campus, and of course because it has its own beautiful color.
GH: Favorite class this semester?
KC: My favorite class this semester would be Sociology. This class is interesting because it deals with real life situations that I can relate to. When I can apply information from class to my life, I don't have to force myself to pay attention.
GH: What is your dream profession?
KC: Physical Therapist
GH: Favorite pre-game meal?
KC: Before games, I like to eat a Med. Deli wrap and pineapple.
GH: What is your walk-up song?
KC: "Dum Dum" by Lecrae
GH: If you played another sport, what would it be?
KC: If I could join another team, I would join a curling team. I'm pretty sure I would be a skilled participant. Thanks to growing up on a farm, our porches and sidewalks were always covered in dirt. To say I have had years of training in the sweeping industry is an understatement.
