Softball Drops Game Two To Cal, 6-5
March 14, 2026 | Softball
SARATOGA, CALIF. – A four-run second inning hurt Carolina softball on Saturday afternoon, which led to a 6-5 loss to California to even the series at one apiece.
Â
Hitting was not an issue for the Tar Heels but timely hitting was. Carolina was able to put up nine hits but left eight runners on base including leaving the bases loaded twice.
Â
Emily LeGette shined despite the loss, going 2-2 with three RBI and her 16th home run of the season. MC Eaton also went deep for her eighth home run of the season.
This marks the 23rd straight game with a home run for the Tar Heels. It is the longest streak dating back to 2012 which is the last season of full game by game data. Last season had the second most with 14 consecutive games with a home run.
Â
Emily LeGette is now sixth all-time for single season home runs in program history and just one RBI away from entering the top 10 for a single season. She has done all of this in just 24 games, UNC is not even at the halfway point of the season yet. Last season, Kat Rodriguez set the program and ACC for single season RBI. Through 24 games Rodriguez had an impressive 40 RBI. LeGette has outpaced her by 11 and is now on pace for 104 RBI in a 49 game regular season. Last season, Carlie Myrtle led the team with 17 home runs in 57 games. LeGette is now at 16 through 24.
Â
Carolina looks to take the series tomorrow at 3 p.m. et on ACCNX.
