UNC Closes 10-Game Homestand With Elon

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- No. 24 UNC closes out 10 straight home games at Anderson Stadium when the Tar Heels host Elon this Wednesday at 6 p.m.

National Rankings
North Carolina moved up to No. 24 in this week's ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and re-entered the USA Today/NFCA rankings in the No. 25 spot after going 6-0 last week. Carolina (24) and Florida State (25) are the only ACC programs ranked in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, and UNC is the only conference team in the USA Today/NFCA rankings.
Coming into the Game
The Tar Heels are 31-13 overall and 9-3 in ACC play, and Elon is 12-24 and 2-10 in conference play. UNC is 28-12-1 all-time against Elon, winning their 2012 contest 6-0.
Top Tar Heels
Constance Orr leads Carolina, batting .350 with 37 RBIs on 43 hits while scoring 25 runs. Amber Parrish (.343) has 34 hits, and Haleigh Dickey (.320) has 27 RBIs on 40 hits, including eight homers this season to set the Carolina career home run record with 39 total.
In the circle for the Tar Heels, Lori Spingola (21-10) has a 2.30 ERA with an ACC-leading 202 strikeouts in 185.2 innings pitched. Spingola was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for the 11th time in her career after earning all six of Carolina's wins last week.
Scouting Elon
Tomeka Watson (.444) leads Elon with 29 RBIs and 33 runs scored on 48 hits while stealing all 20 of attempted bases. Johanna Spencer (.342) has 24 RBIs on 27 hits, and Grace Eng has 23 RBIs on 24 hits.
Kalya Caruso is 6-10 on the season with an ERA of 4.03 and 52 strikeouts in 99.0 innings pitched.
