Fourteen Heels Named To ACC Honor Roll

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Fourteen members of the 2012-13 Carolina men's soccer team were named the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll, league commissioner John Swofford announced this week. A record total of 329 UNC student-athletes were named to the honor roll which, now in its 57th year, is comprised of conference student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year.
UNC's previous high for student-athletes honored was 294 in 2004-05. The Tar Heel total was 290 in 2011-12.
Capitol One Academic All-America of the Year and ACC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year Scott Goodwin was named to the list for the fourth time in his record-breaking career, while Josh Rice and David Walden were honored for the third time. Rob Lovejoy, Ryan McAnallen and Alex Walters earned recognition for the second time, and Cole Brooks, Jonathan Campbell, Jordan Gafa, Glen Long, C.J. Odenigwe, Alex Olofson, Verneri Valimaa and Nick Williams were first-timers.
In addition to Goodwin, Campbell, Lovejoy and Martin Murphy were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for 2012-13.
