North Carolina (2-0-2) is coming off a 2-2 draw with ACC foe Maryland last Friday before more than 4,000 fans at Fetzer Field. Trailing 1-0, the Heels got the equalizer on a penalty kick from Raby George, and later took the lead in the first half on one of the best goals you will see all season long by freshman Omar Holness.
By the virtue of both Connecticut and Creighton losing last week, Carolina takes over the top spot in both the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News polls this week. The Soccer America and NSCAA polls will be released on Tuesday.
Tyler Engel continues to lead the club in scoring with seven points on three goals and one assist. George moves to second on the club with four points after his PK against the Terps.
The Heels have allowed only three goals in four matches, with Brendan Moore having played all 412 minutes between the pipes. He owns a 0.65 goals-against-average and has two clean sheets.
Campbell (1-3) lost a pair of road games last week at Davidson and Loyola (Md.). The Camels have won the last two meetings in Buies Creek against Carolina in 2006 and 2008.
UNC jumps back into league play on Friday at Virginia Tech on Friday night at 7 p.m., on ESPN3.
