Former Golfer Abby Spector To Be Honored

Spector, a native of Waterville, Maine, carded one collegiate win while at Carolina, six top-10 finishes and 14 top-30 finishes. Her win came in the fall of 2002 at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate. She was voted the team's top freshman in 2000 and awarded the Dot Gunnells trophy following the 2002-03 season for her best overall performance.
Spector played on both the girls and boys teams at Waterville High School. She was four-time (1996-99) school girls champion. She was the girls Most Valuable Player and selected to All-State team, 1995-99. While playing for the boys team, she was the Most Valuable Player and chosen to the boys All-State team in 1997 and 1998.
Spector was an excellent junior player, winning four of seven state women's amateur championships when she was just 15 years of age. Spector was a six-time (1996-01) Women's Amateur Champion for Women's Maine State Golf Association. She was selected the 1998 PGA/Maine State Golf Association Player of the Year and was an AJGA Honorable Mention All-America that same year. In 2001, she won the New England Women's Amateur.
