Carolina Hosts Georgia Tech Saturday At 7

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina returns to Kenan Stadium to face Georgia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels (2-4 overall, 0-2 ACC) are seeking their first conference win of the season and looking to end a four-game losing streak.
Carolina is coming off an exciting 50-43 road loss at Notre Dame. QB Marquise Williams became just the fourth player in ACC history to throw for 300 yards and run for 100 yards in the same game. He accounted for four touchdowns, including two passing scores, one rushing and one receiving.
Georgia Tech fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 31-25 home loss to Duke.

CAROLINA-GEORGIA TECH NOTES
• This week's game features two of the eight quarterbacks in the country that are leading their respective teams in passing and rushing yards. Marquise Williams leads UNC with 1,386 passing yards and 375 rushing yards. Justin Thomas leads Georgia Tech with 724 passing yards and 589 rushing yards.
• This game is a contrast in styles as the Tar Heels play an up-tempo offense and the Yellow Jackets play at a more deliberate pace. UNC is 24th in the country with 78.0 plays per game, but ranks 123rd in time of possession (24:38), while the Yellow Jackets are 102nd nationally with 67.8 plays per game, yet 18th in time of possession (32:45).
• North Carolina and Georgia Tech are meeting for the 50th time with the Yellow Jackets holding a 28-18-3 lead in the series.
• Georgia Tech has won 14 of the last 16 against Carolina, including last year's 28-20 victory in Atlanta.
• Georgia Tech has won five straight in the rivalry. In addition to last year, the Yellow Jackets won 68-50 in Chapel Hill in 2012, 35-28 in Atlanta in 2011, 30-24 in Chapel Hill in 2010 and 24-7 in Atlanta in 2009. Carolina's last win was a vacated 28-7 victory in 2008.
• In the most recent meeting in Chapel Hill in 2012, Georgia Tech beat UNC, 68-50. The teams combined to score 118 points, the most in ACC history.
• Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson is a native of Newland, N.C., and he earned his bachelor's degree from Western Carolina in 1979 and a master's degree from Appalachian State in 1982. He began his coaching career at Avery County (N.C.) High School and also coached Lees-McRae Junior College in Banner Elk, N.C.
