• North Carolina improved to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in ACC play with a 45-20 win over No. 25 Duke. The Tar Heels lead the series with the Blue Devils, 60-37-4. The win snaps Carolina's two-game losing streak in the series. It is head coach Larry Fedora's first win over Duke.
• With the sixth win, the Tar Heels are bowl eligible for the second straight season under head coach Larry Fedora.
• Carolina has won 22 of the last 25 over Duke. UNC has scored 19 or more points in each of those 25 games, including 40 or more points eight times.
• Carolina's 45 points are the most points by either team in the series since the Tar Heels beat Duke, 45-44, in Durham in 2006.
• UNC's 25-point margin of victory is the largest in the series since 2001 when Carolina beat Duke, 52-17, in Kenan Stadium. Duke had won the previous two games by three and two points, respectively.
• The win is Carolina's first over a ranked team under head coach Larry Fedora and the first since a 37-35 victory at No. 24 Florida State in 2010. The 25-point win is the largest over a ranked team since a 38-12 win over No. 24 Connecticut in 2008.
• The Tar Heels gained a season-high 591 yards, the fourth time in the last six games UNC has gained at least 500 yards (521 at Notre Dame, 579 vs. Georgia Tech, 502 vs. Pitt and 591 at Duke).
• Carolina has scored 40 or more points in six of its 11 games this season and in 15 of 36 games under head coach Larry Fedora.
• Quarterback Marquise Williams completed 18 of 27 attempts for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 21 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
• Williams had 374 total yards of offense tonight. He has 3,499 total offense yards this year, a UNC single-season record. Bryn Renner set the previous record with 3,394 in 2012. Williams set the record on a 19-yard pass to tight end Jack Tabb.
• Williams threw for two scores and rushed for another pair and has been responsible for 32 touchdowns this year, a UNC single-season record. He has 20 touchdowns passes and 12 rushing touchdowns this year. Bryn Renner set the previous record with 29 in 2012 (28 passing, 1 rushing). Tonight was the fifth time this season that Williams has accounted for at least four touchdowns in a game.
• Williams has 6,046 career total yards, fifth most in UNC history, and has 4,598 career passing yards, sixth in school history. He passed Mike Thomas tonight for sixth place in passing yards.
• Williams threw two TD passes and has 36 in his career. He moved ahead of Chris Keldorf, who had 35, for fourth place in UNC history.
• Williams has passed for 2,773 yards this year, the fourth-most in school history. He has 234 completions, tied for fourth-best.
• Williams has accounted for 531 plays this season (pass attempts and rushes), the most in school history. TJ Yates had 501 in 2010.
• T.J. Logan rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. It is the first time this year a Carolina running back has rushed for more than 100 yards. (Quarterback Marquise Williams has done it twice this year.) Tonight marks the 40th time – and 10th time in the last 11 years – a Carolina player has rushed for 100 or more yards against Duke.
• Logan has rushed 36 times for 208 yards in the last two games against Pitt and Duke. Prior to Pitt, Logan had a combined 17 rushes for 35 yards against Miami and Virginia and rushed for a combined 135 yards in the previous six contests.
• Tailback Romar Morris rushed 17 times for 95 yards. His previous highs this year were nine carries twice and 46 yards against East Carolina. Morris had gained 85 yards rushing in his previous six games combined.
• Carolina rushed the ball 57 times for 315 yards, its highest single-game mark in both categories this year. Previous highs were 48 rushes against Liberty and 238 yards against Pitt. It is the most rushing yards since gaining 339 on the ground vs. Virginia Tech in 2012.
• The Tar Heels have gained 553 yards on the ground in the last two games against Pitt and Duke. Those follow games at Virginia and Miami in which UNC rushed for just 99 and six yards, respectively.
• Quinshad Davis caught a 3-yard touchdown pass to give the Tar Heels an early 14-0 lead. Davis moved into sole possession of second place in UNC history with 20 career touchdown receptions. He trails only Hakeem Nicks (21).
• Davis had six receptions for 44 yards. He now has 144 catches, ninth-best in UNC history. He moved ahead of Kory Bailey for ninth place this evening.
• Safety Tim Scott scored on a 10-yard fumble return in the first quarter after a scooping up a fumble by Duke quarterback Anthony Boone. Defensive tackle Nazair Jones forced the fumble, the first of his career. It is the second defensive touchdown of Scott's career. He scored on an interception return against Georgia Tech in 2012.
• The fumble return touchdown was the Tar Heels' fifth defensive touchdown of the season, which ranks second in the league behind Georgia Tech. Carolina has three interception return touchdowns and two fumble return touchdowns.
• Carolina scored its first two touchdowns following fumbles by Duke's quarterbacks. Duke's first possession ended when LB Jeff Schoettmer recovered a fumble by QB Thomas Sirk. The Tar Heels scored on the ensuing drive, then scored on Duke's next possession on Scott's fumble return.
• Mack Hollins made his ACC-leading eighth touchdown catch of the season on a 1-yard pass from Williams.
• Carolina's 21 first-quarter points are a season high. UNC did not score in the first quarter in either of its previous two games at Miami and Pitt.
• Wide receiver Ryan Switzer had three receptions for 109 yards. It is the second 100-yard receiving game of the season and the third of his career.
• Thomas Moore's 30-yard field goal was the longest for the Tar Heels this season. The previous long was 23 yards. It was Carolina's sixth made field goal this year.
• Carolina's defense allowed just 378 yards, the second-fewest by an opponent in its seven ACC games and third-fewest in 11 overall contests. Only Liberty (346) and Virginia Tech (357) gained fewer yards.
• Nazair Jones had two and a half tackles for losses among his team-high six tackles and forced a fumble and batted down a pass.
