Seager Wins AL Gold Glove
November 5, 2014 | Baseball
Former North Carolina All-America infielder and current Seattle all-star Kyle Seager picked up yet another accolade Tuesday, as the standout third baseman won his first Rawlings American League Gold Glove.
"It is an honor to just be up for the award with all the great third basemen, let alone win the Gold Glove," Seager told MLB.com. "I really owe a lot to my coaches, especially Chris Woodward. He helped me tremendously."
Seager was the second-most valuable defender in baseball according to Baseball Reference's Total Zone Runs stat. His defense was worth 24 runs for the Mariners, second only to Atlanta's Jason Heyward (31).
