By The Numbers: Quick Lane Bowl
December 16, 2014 | Football
Here is a Quick Lane Bowl edition of our new "By The Numbers" feature.
1 - Number of touchdowns WR Quinshad Davis needs to set a UNC career mark for receiving touchdowns. He is currently tied with Hakeem Nicks at 21.
5 - Carolina is one of just five schools in the country to play 11 bowl eligible teams this season. The others are Arkansas, Boise State, Auburn and Georgia Tech.
6 - Number of consecutive winning seasons for head coach Larry Fedora, including four years at Southern Miss and two at UNC. Fedora has never had a losing season as a head coach.
8 - The Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field will be just the eighth game in a domed stadium in UNC's history. The most recent came in 2010 against LSU in the Georgia Dome. Carolina is 6-1 in domed stadiums.
2010 - LSU 30, UNC 24 (Georgia Dome)
2002 - UNC 30, Syracuse 22 (Carrier Dome)
2001 - UNC 16, Auburn 10 (Georgia Dome)
1996 - UNC 27, Syracuse 10 (Carrier Dome)
1996 - UNC 42, Houston 14 (Astrodome)
1993 - UNC 42, Tulane 10 (Superdome)
1993 - UNC 21, Mississippi State 17 (Georgia Dome)
10 - North Carolina, Washington State and Arizona are the only three schools in the country with at least 10 players with 10 receptions.
13 - QB Marquise Williams ranks fourth among FBS quarterbacks in scoring with 13 TDs (12 rush, 1 rec). Only Navy's Kenan Reynolds (21 TDs), Oregon's Marcus Mariota (14) and Mississippi State's Dak Prescott (14) have more.
20 - Twenty members of the current Carolina team were on the roster in 2011 when UNC faced Rutgers. Cornerback Tim Scott saw the most extensive action (44 plays) as a true freshman and posted two tackles and a quarterback pressure. T.J. Thorpe returned five kickoffs for 155 yards, including a long of 59. Tommy Hibbard punted three times for a 38.3 average and had a long of 46. Linebacker Travis Hughes and tight end Jack Tabb played in the game on special teams. QB Marquise Williams redshirted that season and did not play against the Scarlet Knights.
31 - The Quick Lane Bowl is Carolina's 31st postseason bowl game appearance and sixth in the last seven years. The Tar Heels are 14-16 all-time in bowl games after winning last year's Belk Bowl vs. Cincinnati, 39-17. Carolina's 31 bowl games ranks fifth among ACC schools.
57 - Carolina has scored 57 touchdowns this season, the second-highest total in school history. Only the 2012 team, also coached by Larry Fedora, scored more (62). Carolina has scored 25 rushing TDs, 27 passing TDs, three interception returns for touchdowns, and two fumble returns for touchdowns.
569 - Williams has already set the single-season school record for most plays with 569, which ranks eighth in ACC history. Only seven players in ACC history have had 600 plays in a season.
3,607 – Williams has 3,607 total yards of offense, a single-season school record. That marks ranks just outside the ACC's top 10 single-season list. Joe Hamilton of Georgia Tech is 10th with 3,794 yards in 1999.
