Virginia Tech 50, North Carolina 47
Associate Head Coach Andrew Caulder
Opening Statement
"Let's give congratulations to Virginia Tech. I want to give them all the credit here. When we get through playing Notre Dame and Duke on Sunday we will have played 30 games. Generally this is what happens: five of those games you're going to play better than you are, five of those games you're going to play worse than you are - we played four of those in the ACC, and 20 of those you're going to play as good as you are. We played another one not as good as we are, but I want to give that credit also to Virginia Tech. We didn't play together out there today, and that's my responsibility."
On ball movement
"I didn't think we moved the ball as good as we needed to move the ball and found the open player. I didn't think we made the extra pass, we need to make the extra pass."
On Xylina McDaniel's performance
"She's a competitor. She loves to compete. She went out there and played her game and she found herself open and she created some shots for herself."
On if experience affected the game
"We're not going to use an excuse that we're young. We're talented. We should've played better than we did. Even though Virginia Tech had something to do with this, we still did not play as good as we could play and it's my responsibility to get them to that level."

On how the team works under pressure
"I think we play well under pressure. We're getting there; it could be better, like last year's team. Playing under pressure was just easy to us. We're learning from that slowly, but it's not as bad as our record may say. I think the team does well under pressure, it just doesn't always show."
On moving on from today's loss
"Just put it in the past. We have two huge games in front of us so the only thing that they can do is put it in the past and leave it in the books because these next two games are crucial so we're going to need them."
On letting mistakes affect them in the game
"Sometimes we get anxious. We have been focusing on turnovers a lot but I think we're just so anxious to where you're just trying to get the ball to the open person but that's going to happen sometimes. All we can do is learn from it."
Virginia Tech Head Coach Dennis Wolff
Opening Statement
"I couldn't be prouder of how our kids played. You know, I think we did a good job of trying to control the tempo of the game to some degree. You know, Vanessa Panousis was great as you guys all saw. And, I really give our kids credit. You all don't follow us, but we've had a lot of close games like this. And unfortunately, we haven't closed some of them out. So today we were able to and it's a great feeling."
On limiting North Carolina's high-scoring offense
"I think we scored a little bit early and that helped us, and we were able to get back and have our defense be settled, and with our defense settled we guarded them and stayed with how we wanted to guard them. So, you know, I think it's [as] simple as that. I think some of the girls certainly didn't play the way they've played all year, and that was a help to us."
On a game plan for Diamond DeShields and Allisha Gray
"We were just going to try to make them work for their baskets. You know, they shot the ball so well, I thought we did a pretty good job on both of them of staying out on them and not giving them open looks at threes. And then our girls inside worked very hard on the boards, so again, it's a great feeling for us right here and I'm sure a disappointment for them."
