Carolina Takes Midweek Trip To James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Tar Heels will take a short break from ACC play this week as they head to James Madison on Wednesday for a midweek doubleheader.
Carolina will then host No. 6/7 Alabama for two games on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon before facing Georgia Southern at 2:30 on Saturday.

Scouting the Matchup:
North Carolina is 6-0 all-time against JMU. The Tar Heels claimed both games in a doubleheader with the Dukes in 2013, 6-0 and 5-3.
North Carolina: UNC (22-20, 13-9 ACC) leads the conference in home runs (53), ranks second in runs scored (238), RBIs (221), and is third in total bases (509).
Jenna Kelly and Kristen Brown lead the Tar Heels' offense along with Aquilla Mateen and Amber Parrish. Kelly (.355) has 34 RBIs and 29 runs with 44 hits, and Brown (.321) has a team-high 43 RBIs and 36 runs while tallying 43 hits. Mateen is a speedy base runner, stealing 16 of 21 bases this season, while also posting a team-high .389 batting average with 15 RBIs and 30 runs. Satterfield (.333) has 25 runs and is 4-5 in stolen bases. Lori Spingola is 16-11 with a .313 ERA while tallying 133 strikeouts in 158.2 innings of work.
James Madison: The Dukes are 31-13 overall and leads the CAA with a 9-3 conference mark. Erica Field (.329) has 31 RBIs and 16 runs with 47 hits, while Hannah Hayes (.299) has 25 runs and 15 RBIs and Niki Prince (.330) has 21 runs and 18 RBIs.
Jailyn Ford leads the team with 26 runs and eight homers while also leading JMU's pitching staff with a 1.49 ERA and 16-6 record. Ford has fanned 156 in 159.2 innings, and Heather Kiefer (2.05 ERA) is 15-7 with 49 strikeouts in 122.2 innings.
