Hovis Named ACC Pitcher Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) --- Miami's Zack Collins has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while North Carolina's Reilly Hovis and NC State's Carlos Rodon earned Co-Pitcher of the Week honors.
Hovis allowed just one hit over 5.0 innings on the week, registering three saves and a win as the Tar Heels beat No. 30 Liberty and swept its ACC series against Virginia Tech. The Gastonia, N.C., native inherited five runners on the week and stranded all five.
Hovis struck out seven batters in five innings and has a league-leading 11.60 strikeouts per nine innings. He has allowed just eight hits in ACC play, holding opposing batters to a league-best .103 batting average. Hovis now ranks fourth in the league in ERA in all games at 1.71.
Hovis and the Tar Heels host East Carolina Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium.
