Tar Heels Kick Off Holland Trip
May 30, 2014 | Field Hockey
LEIDEN, The Netherlands - The North Carolina field hockey team gathered in the Netherlands Friday to kick off a 10-day trip in the country. Several student-athletes were already in Europe, as was head coach Karen Shelton, but the bulk of the 28-person travel party arrived at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport Friday morning after the overnight flight from RDU.
During its stay, the team will play three scrimmage games - the first on Sunday - in addition to touring the Netherlands and watching games in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup, which begins Saturday in the Hague, a short drive from the UNC team hotel in Leiden. Emily Wold, a rising junior on the team, is a part of the U.S. squad as are for former Tar Heels: Rachel Dawson, Katelyn Falgowski, Jackie Kintzer and Kelsey Kolojejchick.
